Delicate Herb Garden
2021 is an intentional year of growth for me, and it’s turning out pretty transformative so far.
I took a course called Immersion on surface pattern design with Bonnie Christine earlier this year. Through the course I was connected with an incredible peer group of inspiring artists, as well as a large collection of students from around the globe. This online course was set up in such a unique way that not only taught artists on a variety of levels, but also helped us all move toward our individual gigantic goals. Bonnie inspired us to reach for our biggest dreams, and I simply LOVED every moment of it!
Whenever my goals feel a little too large to tackle, I remind myself …
We don’t grow when we stay inside our comfort zone.
I thought it was time to dive into surface pattern design, and what better motivation than a fabric design contest, right?
Here’s a look into my watercolor herb pattern. I designed this for a Spoonflower fabric design contest around the garden vegetables & herbs theme. I painted individual elements in watercolor, and converted everything into a repeating vector pattern. I designed art prints of each element, along with the full pattern.
